Hyperkeratosis

Dry skin is the most common symptom that alerts you about problems with your feet. This condition occurs because there are approximately 600 sweat glands in the sole of the foot, but there is no single sebaceous gland which would produce sebum that is responsible for lubrication and flexibility of the skin. Hyperkeratosis is abnormal accumulation of epidermis layers which is body’s protective response.

Symptoms are roughness of the skin, itching, burning and peeling. Lack of care leads to the formation of lodgments, warts, cracks of the skin and inflammation. Dry skin can cover the entire foot or part of it. Dry epidermis has yellow, white-yellow, grey- yellow to brownish-gray coloring may have solid consistency but also brittle, cracked and flaking.

Friction and pressure, hormonal imbalance, diabetes, rheumatism, liver and kidney disorders, wrong footwear, being overweight, abnormal skeletal alignment are the causes of its formation.
